"Queen Elizabeth Alexandra Mary II (1926-2022) - This was her favorite before-dinner cocktail, so we call it the QE-2. Yes, she did drink! Some tribute the winemaker with the origin, calling it a Dubonnet Cocktail No. 1, in the 1850s. Others tribute the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel with it and it was very popular during the depression. They called it a Zaza, after a nineteenth century broadway play. Their version had more Gin than Wine (2:1) in the mix however.
