"Maraschino Cherry" - A de-pitted cherry (stem left on or removed) made from Royal Ann or Rainer variety cherries packaged in sugar syrup. The bright red color comes from food dye. For an extra surprise, keep Maraschino Cherries in a refrigerated jar filled with Bourbon instead of the sugar syrup. The name, Maraschino, derives from the Marasca Cherry of Dalmatian origin.
