- 1 lb. Red Onions (Julianned)
- 2 Red Beets (Washed and Cubed)
- 2 T. Sugar
- 1½ oz. Red Wine Vinegar
- ¾ C. Red Wine
- 1 inch Cinnamon Stick
- 1 Star Anise
- Salt and Pepper to taste

- 1 t. Fresh Oregano (Chopped)
- 1 t. Fresh Cilantro (Chopped)
- 1 t. Fresh Mint (Chopped)
- 1 t. Fresh Parsley (Chopped)
- 2 t. Fresh Lemon Juice
- 3 Fresh Dates (Quartered)
- 4 Fresh Basil Leaves for garnish (Optional)
