Makes: 16-18 portions. Preparation time: 20 minutes.
- 16 oz. (2 packages) Cream Cheese (Softened)
- ½ C. Sugar
- ½ t. Vanilla Extract
- ½ t. Almond Extract
- 2 C. Whipping Cream (Whipped)
- 2 Qts. Fresh Strawberries (Halved)
- 2 Qts. Fresh Blueberries
In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened Cream Cheese, Sugar and both Extracts until fluffy. Fold in the Whipped Cream. Place a third of this mixture in a 4-quart serving bowl.
Reserve about 20 Strawberry halves and a half cup of Blueberries for the garnish. Layer half the remaining Strawberries and Blueberries over the Cream mixture. Then top the fruit with another layer of Cream mixture and the remaining Berries. Spread the remaining Cream mixture on the top and garnish with the reserved Strawberries and Blueberries to resemble the US flag.
”The Stars and Stripes” - The colors in the US flag were inspired by Great Britain's Union Jack but with a unique style of stars [Mullets] and stripes [Barry]. Red is for Valor, White is for Purity and Blue is for Vigilance and Justice. Our flag was adopted on December 3, 1775.
